How to Create, Update or Delete a Prescription

In this tutorial, you will learn how to keep detailed Prescriptions on your patients.

About Prescriptions 

If you are a home-rehabber, you may find that writing your prescriptions in the Continued Care Treatment Log works perfectly well for you. However, if you want more control over how you see, print, and read your prescriptions, you will want to activate the Prescriptions Extension. 

Activating the Prescriptions Extension

Note: Users with Admin or Super Admin status are able to access the Extension Features in Settings.

Step 1

Visit https://www.wrmd.org/signin and log into your account using the username and password that you registered with. 

Step 2

Access your account settings. Click on the arrow next to your name in the top right corner and choose settings from the drop-down menu.  

Step 3

On the left sidebar, click on All Extensions in the Extensions panel.

Step 4

Activate the Prescriptions Extension by clicking the Prescriptions button. Once activated it will always be available until you deactivate it.

You will be able to access the Prescriptions function through the Patient Record.

Creating a Prescription 

Step 1

Open the Patient Record of the animal that you will be writing the prescription for. 

Step 2

Click on the Prescriptions tab. 

Step 3

Click on the green Plus icon to add a new prescription.  

Step 4

Fill in the relevant fields in the Prescription window. The only required fields are the Drug/Medication field and the Start Date

  • Drug/Medication (required field)
  • Concentration
  • Dosage
  • Dose
  • Start Date (required field)
  • End Date
  • Duration in Days
  • Loading Dose
  • Route
  • Frequency
  • Controlled Substance
  • Instructions
  • Veterinarian (assigned from drop down menu or auto filled if signed in)

Step 5

Click on the green Add Prescription button. 

Your prescriptions will be listed under the Prescriptions tab.

In addition to being listed under the Prescriptions Tab, all lab information will filter chronologically into the Patient’s Record under the Continued Care tab and Treatment Logs.

Editing Previously Entered Prescription

Step 1

Open the Patient Record of the animal that you want to focus on. 

Step 2

Click on the Prescriptions tab. 

Step 3

To edit an entry you have entered previously, click on the pencil icon.

If the Prescription list is grayed out, it means that the prescription is no longer active.

Step 4

Update the Prescription information in the new window that opens.

Step 5

Click the green Update Prescription button.

Deleting Previously Entered Prescriptions

Step 1

Open the Patient Record of the animal that you want to focus on. 

Step 2

Click on the Prescriptions tab. 

Step 3

To delete an entry you have entered previously, click on the pink trash can icon.

Step 4

A new window will open asking you if you wish to delete your prescription. Click the Delete Prescription button and your prescription will be immediately deleted.
