What to expect after registering — the approval step
In this tutorial, you will learn what to expect after creating a WildAlert account and how to complete the approval step.
WildAlert is currently only open to users from known organizations. If your email address is not from a recognized domain, you will see an Approval form after you register. Filling it out lets our team review your request and grant access — it is a short one-time step.
Step 1 — Complete registration
If you have not already registered, click Register on the WildAlert landing page and create your account with your name, email, and password. See Registering for an Account for the basic sign-up walkthrough.

Step 2 — Fill out the approval survey
After signing in for the first time you may land on the Approval page. Provide the following:
- Why do you want access to WildAlert? — a sentence or two explaining how you plan to use the platform.
- What type of organization do you represent? — choose the option that best matches (e.g., wildlife rehabilitation organization, government agency, university, etc.).
- Organization name — the full name of your organization.
- How did you learn about WildAlert? — referral source.
Step 3 — Submit and wait for review
Click submit. You will see a confirmation message and your responses will be saved. Our team will review your request and contact you by email when your account is approved. If you have not heard back after a few business days, you can reach out via the Help Scout chat bubble in the lower left.

Step 4 — Continue once approved
After approval you will be able to set your territory in User Settings and start creating surveillance targets. See Setting your territory and geographic preferences and How to Set up a Surveillance Target for next steps.
What if my organization's domain is already recognized?
If your email is from a domain that WildAlert already recognizes, you will not see the Approval page at all. You can log in and start using the platform immediately. The Approval step only appears for unrecognized domains.
