Setting up Notifications to Receive Alerts

In this tutorial, you will learn how to set up notifications for alerts to anomalous events.

WildAlert sends two types of email notifications for each target:

  • Summary Report — a recurring summary of activity for the target.
  • Threshold Exceeded — sent when the case count for the target exceeds the calculated anomaly threshold.

The Subscribe to Target button at the top of a target page adds the target to your team. To choose which members of your team (including yourself) receive these emails, open the Notifications tab on the target.

Step 1 — Subscribe your team

On the target page, click the blue Subscribe to Target button in the upper-right corner of the page header. This adds the target to your team so it appears under My Alerts. The button is only shown while your team has not yet subscribed. Subscribing does not opt anyone in to emails on its own; that is done in Step 2.

Step 2 — Choose which team members receive emails

Open the Notifications tab on the target. You will see a list of every member of your team. For each member, check the box(es) next to their name to opt them in:

  • Summary Report — they will receive the recurring summary email for this target.
  • Threshold Exceeded — they will receive an email each time an anomaly is detected for this target.

Click the blue Save Notification Preferences button at the bottom of the page to apply your changes.

When the threshold for one of your targets has been exceeded and a team member is opted in to threshold-exceeded notifications, that member will receive an automatic email (see example below).
